JOANNA THOMAS is an award-winning visual artist and poet. Her collages and artist books have been exhibited in galleries, universities, and museums across the nation, including the Edith Lambert Gallery in Santa Fe; NOPE Gallery in Los Angeles; Guardino Gallery in Portland; Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts in Tallahassee; University of Alaska Hugh McPeck Gallery in Anchorage; Case Western Reserve University Wickenden Gallery in Cleveland; and Hefei University Jiu Liumi Gallery in the People's Republic of China.

Her poems have appeared in journals such as Ekphrasis, pertrichor, shuf/Poetry, Picture Sentence, Found Poetry Review, and OTOLITHS, as well as several anthologies, including WA129: Poets of Washington, selected by Tod Marshall, WA State Poet Laureate (2016-2018). She has achieved signature status with the National Collage Society and the National Association of Women Artists; and is the recipient of an Allied Arts Foundation Emerging Poet Grant (2020), an Ellensburg City Arts Commission GAP Grant (2020), a WA State Artist Trust GAP Grant (2017), and a Women's Studio Workshop Fellowship (1995). She is a founding member of PUNCH (2006-2016), an artist-run gallery in Seattle's Pioneer Square district. She earned a B.A. Humanities, Cum Laude, from Central Washington University in 2008. Her chapbook blue•bird (bloo-burd) is forthcoming from Milk & Cake Press (Cincinnati) in 2021.
