A poetry prowl in historic downtown Ellensburg, WA

Home

In its effort to safeguard the public health against COVID-19, the City of Ellensburg has declared a state of emergency, ordered the closing of all public facilities, and recommended the closure of private facilities as well. The Prowl sends heartfelt best wishes to all who share our concern and disappointment –– our venues, volunteers, sponsors, poets, and poetry lovers near and far. Wash hands. Drink beer. Eat cake. We'll see you again soon.

E.E. Cummings

"A poet is a penguin

his wings are to swim with."

                                                     e. e. cummings

The American poet, painter and playwright E. E. Cummings was an innovative poet known for his lack of stylistic and structural conformity. He wrote verse that presented romantic attitudes in an experimental style. Cummings's poems are not only ideas but crafted physical objects that show a fresh way of looking at reality.
